What Tacoma kitchens actually need

The North End, Proctor District and North Slope are full of 1910s–1930s craftsman and Tudor houses where a modern range or a counter-depth refrigerator was fitted into an opening built for something much smaller. Browns Point and Northeast Tacoma run larger and newer. Downtown and the Stadium District add condos with compact, panel-ready units in tight utility spaces.
Old houses change the job. Original wiring, 30-inch openings, back stairs too narrow to walk a unit through, and gas lines that were never resized for a modern range — we check the install before we condemn a part, because in Tacoma the install is often the fault.

Our kitchen is from the 1920s. Can a modern appliance even be repaired in that space?
